Inscribed to the "Dealers in dark Pictures, "Hogarth's
last print reiterates his thoughts on the contemporary demand
for Old Master paintings. In addition, Hogarth represents
the relationship of contemporary notions of the "beautiful"
and "sublime" by contrasting the waving and winding
line of beauty with the discontinuities and jaggedness which
compose the notion of the sublime.
