Whoever makes a Design without the knowledge of perspective will be liable to such Absurdities as are shewn in this Frontispiece.

While Hogarth does not include a discussion of perspective in traditional (mathematical) terms in his Analysis, he annexes the subject in a slightly altered, 'common-sense' form under the heading "Of Variety."
